The Crittall House

This house was home to the Beatles in their 1960s film “Help”, with no refurbishment since our clients who recently bought the property needed our were looking to remodel and extend with, a ground floor industrial look extension with Crittall style doors and brick roof extension to create this lovely family home.

The architectural features in the new extension include traditional features including red soldier courses and traditional style black Crittall style doors.
Internally, exposed timber joists at the ceiling and stock bricks for the internal walls create texture and bring design features to the space in a cost and space effective way.

The existing house had flush level floors throughout and a poorly constructed rear extension. The existing extension was demolished and replaced, with the new extension being set flush with the garden and at a lower level to allow a larger floor to ceiling height to the rear, creating a beautiful tall space. This also afforded us the opportunity to create an oversized pocket door opening leading into the extension adding to the openness of the terraced house and install a cloakroom under the staircase.

The existing house has also been upgraded, with wide Crittall doors installed between the hallway and front room improve the light and sense of space as you enter the house.
